Pediatrics Interest Group

The Pediatrics Interest Group (PIG) is a student-run group associated with the Department of Pediatrics. The primary goal is to help students explore careers in Pediatrics, from primary care to subspecialities and private practice to academics. This goal is partly obtained by faculty-student meet-and-greets, 1-on-1 mentoring opportunities, third year mentor talks, residency application talks, and notification of academic opportunities such as the Pediatric Chairman’s conference. Furthermore, the group encourages positive interactions with the children in the hospital through community service events in conjunction with Child Life (specialists who focus on the quality of life of hospitalized children). Additionally, in 2015 the group became involved with ATLAS, an organization in the undergraduate campus that connects teens with college students with chronic illness.

Some of our annual events include: Faculty-Student Ice Cream Social, Halloween Celebration with Child Life, Introduction to the Wards Event, and Research in Pediatrics Panel.
